Angge finishes 2nd overall in 2023 Student Journalism Awards

 

The Angelite, the official student publication of Holy Angel University, bags the overall 1st runner-up award at the recently held Student Journalism Awards 2023 on Friday, October 13.

The awarding was organized by the People’s Pen Awards (PPA), together with the Office of the Student Affairs (OSA), and was held at the St. Michael Hall at the Sister Josefina Nepomuceno Formation Center.

Among the awards garnered by The Angelite are the following:

Yuan Simbulan – Champion, Column Writing

Angela Manaloto – Champion, Humor/Comic

Sophia Rose Suarez – 2nd runner-up, News Writing

Hannah Pineda – 2nd runner-up, Column Writing

Izzy Daguay, 2nd runner-up, Feature Writing; 1st runner-up, Literary Writing

Mary Rose Samson – 2nd runner-up, Editorial Cartooning

The Angelite also won the Best Page Presentation and the third place in Editorial Writing award.

Meanwhile, The Enterprise from the School of Business and Accountancy bagged the overall champion for this year’s awards, while the Solution from the School of Engineering and Architecture landed on the third spot for the overall race.

Likewise, the following topnotchers for the OSA Editorial Board Examination earlier this year were also awarded during the event:

Izzy Daguay – Top 1, overall; Top 1, Feature Writing, Top 3, Essay

Brienne David – Top 2, overall; Top 1, News Writing, Top 2, Essay

Godwin Pring – Top 3, overall; Top 2, News Writing; Top 1, Essay

Angela Manaloto – Top 5, overall; Top 1, Cartooning

Yuan Simbulan – Top 9, overall; Top 1, Layout

McGiorge David – Top 1, Literary Writing

Michelle Apostol – Top 3, Photojournalism

Sophia Suarez – Top 2, Sports Writing

The Student Journalism Awards aims to honor the remarkable talents and fearless dedications of student journalists and campus publications of the Angelites.
