Kapampangans are famously known for their loud voices—heard no matter where they go. They speak, and people are drawn to listen. However, in print and online media, the Kapampangan language remains to be dimly lit and undervalued.
The Kapampangan language is said to be an “endangered language” due to the lack of intergenerational language transmission, as mentioned by Sínúpan Singsing: Center for Kapampángan Cultural Heritage, a program headed by an non-government organization focusing on Kapampangan studies called Ágúman Sínúpan Singsing, Inc.
With that, The Angelite, in partnership with the Center for Kapampangan Studies (CKS), created “Bap, Na’ng Balita?”, a one-day workshop that aims to hone the news and feature writing skills of students from Holy Angel University. This event is an avenue for writers to refine their quills and rediscover the lost art of utilizing the Kapampangan language in the field of journalism—promoting cultural preservation for a province steeped in history and lore.
This event will be held on February 17, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the CKS Theatre.
