HAU gamers now eligible for scholarship

With access to monthly tournament support, exclusive league access, industry support and more, Holy Angel University based Valiant Esports is now also eligible for the country’s first esports scholarship.

“The education sector is hard-hit by the pandemic. With students, teachers and families shaken to adjust to the digital norm. Many schools are turning to esports to supplement the lack of extracurricular activities. This is Globe’s way to make that transition smoother and more holistic,” Dennis Christian Dominguez, Head of Games and Esports at Globe Telecom, said.

Partnered with Globe Telecom and Esports AcadArena, the Philippines’ premiere campus esports program, members, players, and staff of Valiant Esports may avail the Esports Merit Scholarship for College Students.

Certain criteria will be taken into account in order to be qualified as an esports merit scholar. One will be assessed according to their good character and performance in competitive title games, their contribution to the growth of the campus esports scene, and the financial needs of the student.

Both the Competitive and Leadership Merit scholarship will cover 25% to 100% of the student’s tuition fee, whereas the Family Good Game Grant will provide an allowance worth PHP25,000 to PHP50,000. 

Holy Angel University is 1 of the 13 schools currently accredited by AcadArena’s Alliance Program.  

Under the university-wide organization League of Students for Excellence Valiant Esports play include Mobile Legends, League of Legends, Valorant, Call of Duty Mobile, DOTA 2, Hearthstone, Minecraft, Runeterra, Team Fight Tactics, and other game titles upon a popular request or instruction of AcadArena. 

Valiant Esports extends its invitation to anyone interested in joining their growing team. Only senior high school (SHS) and college students are allowed to join the organization and compete in these game

According to the official website of AcadArena, students who are eligible to be part of the scholarship program must be a bona fide college student or currently taking up master’s degree, part of an alliance or an accredited student organization by AcadArena, and the student must have good grades and good character although being an honor student is not a requirement.
