Progressive groups conducted swift and short protest actions against the Anti – Terror Bill while observing social distancing, wearing of face mask, and the ten-person limit in mass gatherings at Mabalacat and Angeles City.
“Naglunsad ng maikling protesta sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng Metro Clark ang mga sektoral na organisasyon na may tig sa-sampung bilang ng mga nagpoprotesta.” said Bagong Alyansang Makabayan in their official statement.
The group also commemorates the death anniversary of William Geerthman, a Dutch missionary and an environmental defender who resisted mining activities. In 2012, Geerthman was murdered in broad daylight and in 2019, a man was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of the Dutch environmental activist.
They stressed that even before and without the Anti – Terror bill activists such as Geerthman are already being silenced.
As of today, the Anti Terror Bill only has 6 days left before it lapses into a law. Many groups have already called on to President Duterte to veto the controversial and draconian bill.
