HAU denounces red-tagging, to discuss joint actions with other universities

In an email sent today by Dr. Luis Maria Calingo, Holy Angel University President, which concerns the latest red-tagging remarks against the university, said that the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) will discuss actions to be taken.

“The recent red-tagging included 9 Catholic schools. This has unprecedentedly prompted [the] CEAP to call an emergency meeting of the affected school presidents starting today to discuss our potential joint action,” says Dr. Luis Maria Calingo.

Calingo states that he is taking the issue seriously, mentioning as well that the Diliman Commune was the very first mass mobilization that he has participated in.

The statement was in regards to the latest remarks of the National Task Force to End Local Communism (NTF-ELCAC), which mentions HAU as a target of recruitment and radicalization of CPP-NPA-NDF.

Last September 29, 2020, HAU released a statement to condemn the usage of the university’s brand and image to red-tag the institution.
